One game, one award for Melvin Ejim.

The ISU senior forward made his season debut Sunday as Iowa State knocked off No. 7 Michigan 77-70 in front of a sold out Hilton Coliseum. Ejim missed the first two games of the season with a hyperextended left knee, and after originally being expected to miss four to six weeks, he returned in just more than two.

In 28 minutes Sunday, Ejim scored a team-high 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field to go with nine rebounds. Sunday’s game was the seventh 20-point game of Ejim’s career.

It is the fourth player of the week award of Ejim’s career and the second consecutive for Iowa State after guard Naz Long won the award last week.

Iowa State returns to the court Wednesday when it takes on BYU at 8:30 p.m. in Provo, Utah. The game will be televised by ESPNU.
