ISU volleyball defeats Oklahoma in straight sets

The No. 25 ISU volleyball team (16-6, 9-2 Big 12) won in straight sets against Oklahoma (18-7, 6-5 Big 12) on Saturday. Iowa State defeated Oklahoma 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 26-24) for its sixth-straight win this season.

Iowa State started off the match up 4-0. The Sooners were able to tie the first set before the Cyclones went on an 8-0 run and finished the set with a 25-14 win.

Iowa State kept Oklahoma to a .086 hitting percentage during the first set. Sophomore middle blocker Tory Knuth led Iowa State in digs after the first set with six. Senior libero Kristen Hahn was not far behind with five.

The second and third sets were closer for Iowa State and Oklahoma. In the third set, the teams were tied 18 different times.

Sophomore right side hitter Mackenzie Bigbee led Iowa State’s offense with 13 kills and two service aces. Freshman outside hitter Ciara Capezio had 11 kills and added another ace for Iowa State.

Hahn finished the match with 21 digs. She broke Iowa State’s record with 45 career matches with 20 or more digs.

Oklahoma’s Sallie McLaurin had nine kills and hit .318 against Iowa State. The Sooners out blocked the Cyclones 8-3 during the match. 

Iowa State’s next match will be at West Virginia on Wednesday, Nov. 13. The Cyclones have only four regular-season matches left on their schedule
