ISU volleyball falls to Texas 3-1

The ISU volleyball team fell to No. 3 Texas 3-1 (25-19, 14-25, 19-25, 22-25) on Saturday, Oct. 19, in Austin, Texas. Texas leads the all-time series against Iowa State 34-4.

Iowa State (10-6, 4-2 Big 12) won the first set 25-19 against Texas (13-2, 6-0 Big 12) before dropping the next three. In the fourth set, the Cyclones won five of seven points to come within two of the Longhorns.

Iowa State’s streak in the fourth made the score 22-20. The Longhorns won the next three of five points to win the set 25-22 after a kill by Texas outside hitter Khat Bell.

During the match, sophomore middle blocker Tory Knuth had four service aces for the Cyclones. Knuth leads the Big 12 in aces and has 20 on the season.

Senior libero Kristen Hahn was below her conference-leading average of 5.79 digs per set. She had only 14 total against the Longhorns.

Texas leads the Big 12 in hit percentage and averages .268 this season. The Longhorns hit .303 against the Cyclones.

Texas had three players with double-digit kills on the night. Texas outside hitter Bailey Webster led Texas with 15 against the Cyclones.

Iowa State’s next match will be at Kansas on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
