TV Reivew: ‘Bad Samaritans’

Jordan Mains

Can you imagine having to spend countless hours each day working jobs you hate for zero pay all with your ex? If you can not, this series will depict it for you.

“Bad Samaritans” is a comedy starring Brian Kubach, Julianna Guill, Tommy Snider, Alice Hunter, Robert LaSardo and David Faustino. It is yet another one of Netflix’s original series available on their streaming service.

When couple Jake and Drew go on a picnic in the forest, it ends up turning into an ugly breakup. The ugliness does not stop there, as they accidentally start a massive wildfire.

The fire ends up costing thousands of dollars in damages to the state, and the judge sentences each of them to 2,000 hours of community service.  The best part about their sentence is that they have to serve it together the entire time, which adds to the humor.

During their service, they meet a variety of degenerates and oddballs who were also sentenced to serve their community. Each episode, they visit somewhere different in the community to do their service. This helps keep things relatively fresh each episode.

There is plenty of humor in the show, although it is not exactly clever or original. It is one of those things you either love or hate. There is not much more to it than that.

I did enjoy the series, but it was not as good as some of the other Netflix exclusive series. But if you are a comedy fan, it might be worth the watch.

There are only five episodes in the series thus far, so it is not one of those Netflix series you can binge on. A second season has yet to be announced, so it is unsure when, or if, there will be more episodes later on.
