Day one of the ITA Regionals for the ISU tennis team provided Samantha Budai and Ksenia Pronina a chance to play doubles together for the first time.

The duo started off strong with an 8-3 win against Nebraska’s Izabella Zgierska and Maike Zeppernick. The win was the first time an ISU doubles team advanced at ITA Regionals since Maria Macedo and Simona Cacciuttolo did so in 2011-12.

The second round for Budai and Pronina took place inside due to weather, where they were eliminated after falling to Tulsa’s Rongrong Leenabanchong and Maria Sant’Anna, 8-3.

Pronina will continue play Saturday, Oct. 19, in singles where she will face Oklahoma’s Whitney Ritchie.
