ISU soccer and Drake end matchup in a tie

DES MOINES — Iowa State and in-state foe Drake could not break a 1-1 deadlock Sunday afternoon and ended the game in a tie after 110 minutes of play.

The first 45 minutes ended with both teams finding open looks and chances at the goal, but weren’t able to capitalize. Midway through the second half, Drake was able to break the cycle.

After the ball took a bounce off the center official as Iowa State (6-6-2) tried to clear, Drake regained possession and stringed together several passes before putting the ball in the net to take a 1-0 lead.

Haley Albert responded five minutes later as she put home a header off of corner kick from Emily Goldstein, tying the score at 1-1. The score would remain that way throughout.

It was the second draw of the weekend for the Cyclones after the tying Kansas 0-0 on Friday.
