ISU tennis wraps up at ITA Regionals with win from Samantha Budai in singles play

The ISU tennis team finished play at the ITA Regionals Championship with freshman Samantha Budai ending the tournament on a winning note.

Budai defeated Wichita State’s Summer Schlotterback 6-1, 6-4 in singles play Saturday, Oct. 19. 

Junior Ksenia Pronina kept a 6-1 record for the fall season coming into the tournament but wasn’t able to close out the tournament with a victory. She lost in her first match of the day against Whitney Ritchie of Oklahoma 6-1, 6-2.

Pronina was eliminated after her second match which resulted in a loss against Tulsa’s Renata Kuricova 6-0, 6-4.

The Cyclones return to the court in two weeks at the Cougar Classic on Nov. 1 in Houston, Texas, to finish up the fall season.
