Movie Review: ‘Shotgun Wedding’

Jordan.Mains.Com

“Shotgun Wedding” is not a movie that is about what you typically think a shotgun wedding consists of.

In this Netflix exclusive, Mike Damus and Kim Shaw star as an engaged couple preparing to be wed together.

The night before the wedding, the groom Robert and one his buddies decide to have a night of fun. Although the bride is not there with them, the maid of honor, Pensee, decides to join them.

Together, they all have drinks and goof off before their big day. Robert is a big street shooter, so they decide to shoot around for fun.

We all know that drinking and playing with weapons is never a good combination. A freak accident happens when Robert is messing around trying to be a trickster with his shooting. He ends up shooting the maid of honor in the face, and although she survives, her face is horribly mutilated.

They then take Pensee to Robert’s mother who is a school nurse to check out the damage. Robert’s mother worries that the accident will keep the wedding from happening and tries to keep the whole ordeal a secret from the others. They are successful in doing so, at least for a while.

If you think the shooting scene is going to be vulgar, it is really not even the worst part. The movie gets more and more obscene throughout. It is not one for those with a weak stomach.

Overall, it is a very goofy movie that involves a lot of cheesy humor. It is not a great movie, but it is one that is worth a watch. It managed to capture my attention the entire time.

3/5.
