No. 16 West Virginia’s high-powered offense was too much for the ISU soccer team as the Cyclones fell 2-0 Friday night in Morgantown, W.V.

The Mountaineers scored on a goal off a free kick in the 14th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. ISU goalkeeper Maddie Jobe recorded three saves in the half.

West Virginia took little time in the second half to score again with a goal in the 57th minute to extend its lead to 2-0. The No. 16 team in the nation was able to hold on for the win for the remainder of the half.

The Cyclones fired 12 shots in the game with four of them on goal. West Virginia, the No. 18 offense in the nation, managed 15 shots, with eight of them on goal.

Jobe recorded six saves in the game, while West Virginia goalkeeper Sara Keane recorded her fifth shutout of the season with four saves.

Iowa State’s Haley Albert, Hayley Womack and Emily Goldstein all recorded two shots with one on goal. Albert logged 63 minutes in her defensive position.

The Cyclones will take on Oklahoma on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Norman, Okla.
