On Tuesday, Sept. 17, Sharika Sawyer, lead singer of the local Ames band, Ladysoal, was admitted to a Des Moines hospital with a mild heart attack.

Sawyer has been working on a variety of projects as of late and, in conjunction with being a single mother, Sawyer’s stress reached an all-time high that culminated in a heart attack.

“I just heard about it. I’m really hoping she’s OK, and I’m thinking about her family” said Nate Logsdon, local musician and manager of DG’s Tap House.

Her Facebook wall flooded with encouraging posts from family, friends and fans.  

Sawyer is in stable condition and is on the road to recovery.
