The ISU soccer team fell short of their goal to reach four straight wins and start the 2013 season with a 4-0 mark Sunday.

The Cyclones (3-1) lost to Minnesota (4-0) Sunday afternoon by a score of 1-0. It is the first loss for Iowa State this season and the fourth win in a row for the Golden Gophers.

Minnesota’s lone goal came off a corner kick that bounced off an Iowa State defender, resulting in an own goal. ISU goalkeeper Maddie Jobe played the entire 90 minutes for the Cyclones allowing the game’s only goal and recorded five saves.

Both sides spent the second half trading opportunities for goals, but neither could hit the mark.

The Cyclones take on Iowa in Iowa City on Friday, Sept. 6.
