The ISU volleyball team started its season off with a win on Friday morning by defeating South Dakota State 3-0 at the UND Classic in Grand Forks, N.D.

The match was the No. 15 ranked Cyclones’ (1-0) first of three on the weekend, as they’ll face North Dakota on Friday afternoon and Texas A&M on Saturday morning.

The Cyclones dominated for much of the match, taking the Jackrabbits down 25-17 in the first set followed by a 25-12 edge in the second and 25-18 in the third.

True freshman outside hitter Ciara Capezio, in her first match as a Cyclone, led the team in kills with 12 to go along with seven digs and a block.

After much discussion on the topic in the preseason, Jenelle Hudson got the nod at setter, tallying 38 assists and seven digs.

Two-time defending Big 12 Libero of the Year Kristen Hahn conducted business as usual on Friday morning, finishing the match with a match-high 22 digs.

The Cyclones second match of the weekend is set to begin at 7 p.m. against North Dakota.
