The Supreme Court of the United States gave its rulings on the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) and Proposition 8 early Wednesday morning.

The Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 decision that DOMA was unconstitutional.  Legally married same-sex couples will get the same federal benefits as heterosexual couples.

In another 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court ruled there was no standing on Proposition 8, meaning same-sex marriage is legal in California.
