Cars overturned during Veishea weekend

The beginning of Veishea weekend was disturbed by two overturned cars: one on the 300 block of Welch Avenue. and the other at 2035 Sunset Drive [corrected from: the 100 block of Sunset Drive].

Traffic was disrupted early Saturday, April 20, 2013, around midnight, by the flipped car on Welch Avenue, which Lt. Tom Shelton of the Ames police department said was the only major disturbance that evening at the time.

The Ames Tribune reported there had been one arrest made related to the incident. The Ames Police Department has tweeted asking for information regarding the individuals involved in overturning the car on Welch Avenue.

It also reported Ames police Sgt. Brad Baker said there were comparatively fewer arrests and citations made this year from last, potentially due to lower temperatures.

According to the police department’s daily log for Friday, April 19, eight individuals were issued public intoxication citations throughout the day.
