Top ranked Sooners cripple Cyclones

The ISU softball team dropped its fifth game in a row on Friday evening. The Cyclones (19-27, 4-9 Big 12) fell to the hands of No. 1 ranked Oklahoma (41-3, 9-1) in Norman, Okla., by a score of 24-1.

Senior first baseman Erica Miller hit her sixth home run of the season and drove in her 49th RBI, but that would be the only offense the Cyclones would see all game.

The Sooners opened the flood gates in the first inning, jumping out to an 11-0 lead on the Cyclones. Leslie Miller (1-0) would record the win for Oklahoma. She allowed two hits and one run while striking out none and walking none.

Senior Tori Torrescano (10-12) took the loss in the circle for the Cyclones. She allowed 10 runs, eight earned, on five hits and four walks while not fanning a batter and getting one out.

Erica Miller finished the night 2-for-2 with a walk for the ISU team. Tori Torrescano, Maddie Reese and Jorden Spendlove also had hits for the Cyclones in the contest.

The teams will return to the diamond on Saturday for game two of the series with a first pitch scheduled for noon.
