After not competing in Florida since February 15, 2009, the ISU softball team has returned to find itself struggling.

The Cyclones lost both of Saturday, March 16, 2013’s games with the final score of 4-2 dropping their season record to 11-13.

Unlike the last trip to the Sunshine State, when Iowa State went 5-1, this away tournament isn’t going the way the team would have liked.

After a win against Liberty on Friday, March 15, the Cyclones have dropped three-straight with one game in the tournament left against Temple (6-12).

Once the tournament is over the team will play five more games in Florida trying to turn around this slump.

Freshman Brittany Gomez was a bright spot in Saturday’s games, hitting a perfect 5-for-5 in both contests. Gomez also had one walk and a run batted in by an Erica Miller double.

Iowa State’s game against Temple will be held Sunday, March 17, at 10:45 a.m.
