After a 1-3 record in the first two days of the tournament in Clearwater, Fla., Iowa State defeated Temple on March 17, 2013 in a 14-3, six-inning game.

Iowa State is now 7-1 against Temple all-time. The last time the two teams met, in 1998, the Cyclones won 6-0.

As a team, Iowa State hit three homeruns, knocking two balls out of the park and getting an inside-the-park homerun by the standout player of the weekend, Brittany Gomez.

Gomez was 5-for-5 in the games March 16, hitting a weekend average of .667. The freshman had 10 hits, three RBI, and seven runs while also adding four stolen bases to her season total.

Gomez currently has 16 stolen bases, which puts her just two away from the ISU single-season record.

Tori Torrescano and Erica Miller hit the other two homeruns. Torrescano hit three homeruns this weekend, making her season total nine.

Iowa State will play Florida Gulf Coast on March 19 in Fort Myers, Fla. at 5 p.m.
