President Leath to speak at GSB meeting tonight

Katie Grunewald

Iowa State’s President Leath will speak at the Government of Student Body weekly senate meeting tonight. This will be the first time Leath has spoken at a GSB meeting this school year. Any student is encouraged to attend.

The meetings are held in the Campanile Room of the Memorial Union at 7 p.m. every Wednesday night.

The GSB Senate will also be voting on four bills.

One of the bills, “Let’s Get Ready to KILL Cancer,” proposes to allocate $190.00 to Colleges Against Cancer from the Senate Discretionary Account.

The Colleges of Cancer are hosting the Relay for Life, a 24 hour event beginning on March 8, and want all of the money raised to go towards the American Cancer Society.

If approved, GSB would be funding part of the expenses toward the hypnotist, Gig Masters, karaoke machine, ISU After Dark, a Cy appearance, and the ISU Spirit Squad.

The money that GSB does not fund will come from other student organizations.

The other bills GSB Senate plans to vote on are “Sustainability Symposium,” “Amending the Articles of Cooperation” and “Finance Committee Bylaw Updates.”

Any student who wishes to address the GSB can do so during open forum. This is a designated time at the beginning of every meeting for students to speak.
