Men’s golf finishes sixth in Palm Springs

The ISU men’s golf team jumped two spots Sunday en route to a sixth-place finish at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Springs, Calif.

TCU took the meet with breathing room, shooting 845 (277-288-280). Second place St. Mary’s finished 25 strokes behind with 870 (284-294-292).

The Cyclones finished with a team score of 888 (300-300-288), with their final-round score of 288 being the sixth-best round of the tournament and second-best round of the final day.

The team was led by Sam Daley (76-72-70=218), who shot a final round of two-under par along with Collin Foster (78-77-70=225). Both Scott Fernandez (72-74-74=220) and Blake Waller (79-77-74=230) shot final rounds of two-over par to bring the Cyclones to even par in the third round.

Daley finished tied for 16th individually, while Scott Fernandez finished outside of the top three for the first time this season (T-22nd).

The Cyclones will be back on the course March 22 at the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C.
