“Play With Words” premiere at Fisher Theater

Two citizens walk pass the new temporary location of the Ames Public Library at 620 Lincoln Way on Monday, Dec. 3. The new location is set to open on Monday Dec. 10, while the other building at 515 Douglas Ave. is going under construction for remodeling. The library will be open regular hours.

Ames Public Library and the Iowa State Center have joined with Ames Children’s Theater to debut “Play With Words!”

“Play With Words!” is a theatrical piece that is the adaptation of plays, music, poetry and stories written by local middle school and high school students.

The Ames Public Library, the Iowa State Center and the Ames Children’s Theater collaborated to hold summer workshops that, in the spring of 2012, students were asked participated in.

The works from authors Makenna Wallace, Kayla Pierce, Julia Stevens, Regan Suntken and Padmashree Rajagopalan are showcased in “Play With Words!”

Susan Norris guides the cast in performance as director. Cast members include Bronwyn Brooks, Holland Brooks, Jeff Brooks, Amy Feddersen, Cheryl Kimberley, Kayla Pierce, Clae Riker, Isaiah Riker, Lily Shedd, Ben Teske, Jason Vernon, Susan Vernon and Hannah Wigdahl.

“Play With Words” premieres at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fisher Theater. It will also be performed at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Iowa State Center ticket office and at all Ticketmaster outlets.
