Fire at new golf facility reported suspicious

Daily Staff

A fire at the new ISU golf facility that was extinguished on Thursday is being reported as suspicious by the Story County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Iowa state fire marshal is heading an investigation of the fire on the new $2 million facility that sits on highway 69 just south of Ames.

A call from the Daily to Ray Reynolds of the fire marshal’s office was not returned.

The ISU men’s and women’s golf teams have been practicing at the facility in the winter in preparation for the 2013 spring season that starts in February.
