Three star prospect TJ Tampa commits to Iowa State

The Iowa State football team signed their 20th recruit to the class of 2020 on Friday as three-star prospect athlete TJ Tampa committed to Iowa State.

Tampa is from Saint Petersburg, Florida, and Iowa State’s fourth commit from Florida. 

Along with his scholarship offer from Iowa State, Tampa had a scholarship offer from other power five schools (teams from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 12, or SEC) Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse and Wake Forest along with 13 other scholarship offers from Division 1 schools.

6 foot 2 and 175 pound Tampa also has a basketball scholarship offer to play at James Madison according to 247sports.com.

According to 247sports, On Tampa’s unofficial visit to Iowa State on June 18, Tampa worked out at both wide receiver and defensive back.

Tampa is the fourth receiver that the Cyclones have gotten a commitment from in the class of 2020 and joins a highly-touted recruiting class.

As of August 16, Iowa State’s recruiting class ranks fourth out of ten among the Big 12 teams and 33rd out of the 130 teams in the football bowl subdivision.

Iowa State’s recruiting class of 2020 is currently the highest-rated class that the Cyclones have had on the 247sports.com team recruiting rankings since 247sports started tracking team recruiting rankings in 2000.

National signing day for the class of 2020 is February 5, 2019.
