Former ISU football coach Gene Chizik has been fired, Auburn announced on Sunday.

Chizik, who was hired by Iowa State in November 2006, spent two seasons in Ames, going a combined 5-19 before leaving the team to take the head coaching position at Auburn University.

While at Auburn, Chizik won a National Championship during the 2010 season. After going 3-9 this season, the school decided to relieve Chizik of his duties.
