The NCAA Midwest Regional race was a day of repeats for the ISU cross-country program.

Senior Betsy Saina repeated as champion with a time of 19:51 and led the women’s team to its third consecutive championship with a score of 63, beating second-place Oklahoma State by 32 points.

Saina, senior Meaghan Nelson, freshman Crystal Nelson and junior Samantha Bluske all received All-Regional honors.

The men’s team finished eighth led by junior Edward Kemboi (21nd overall, 30:51) and junior Mohamed Hrezi (22nd, 30:53).

Both Kemboi and Hrezi received All-Regional honors. Assistant cross-country coach Travis Hartke said he doesn’t think the men’s finish will be good enough to qualify them for the NCAA national meet.

The women’s team will advance though and compete for the national title on Nov. 17 in Louisville, Kentucky.
