Eight former Cyclones to play in NBA Las Vegas Summer League

Eight former Iowa State basketball players have earned roster spots on an NBA Summer League team roster and will begin play in the 2019 NBA Las Vegas Summer League Friday through at least July 11 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Each team in the league will play three games between Friday and July 11. Then, they’ll be seeded and put into a bracket. From there, the league will be a single elimination tournament, and a champion will be crowned on July 15.
Guard Marial Shayok will be the first former Cyclone to play in the 2019 NBA Las Vegas Summer League as he will play for the Philadelphia 76ers, who will play the Milwaukee Bucks at 2:30 p.m on NBA TV.
Guard Naz Mitrou-Long will be the second former Cyclone to play as he and the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at 4 p.m. Friday on NBA TV.
The Cavaliers have already played in some games this summer as they competed in the Salt Lake City Summer League, where Mitrou-Long averaged 16.5 points per game and five assist per game in three games played.
Another former Cyclone who has already had some Summer League games under his belt this summer is guard Nick Weiler-Babb, who played for the Miami Heat in the California Classic.
In the California Classic, Weiler-Babb averaged eight points per game on 53% shooting.
The Heat’s first game in the 2019 NBA Las Vegas Summer League will come against Team China at 4:30 p.m. Friday, which will be televised on ESPNU.
Rookie guard Talen Horton-Tucker will play for the Los Angeles Lakers, and their first game will be against the Chicago Bulls at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN on Friday.
The final Cyclone to play on Friday will be forward Cameron Lard who will play for the Orlando Magic against the San Antonio Spurs at 10 p.m. on NBA TV.
On Saturday, forward Deonte Burton will make his 2019 Summer League debut for the Oklahoma City Thunder at 2 p.m. on NBA TV against the Utah Jazz.
Guards Matt Thomas and Lindell Wiggington will be teammates in the Summer League as they will play for the defending NBA Champion Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors will begin the tournament against the NBA finals runner-up Golden State Warriors at 11 a.m. on Sunday on ESPN.
