A girl from the Ames Soccer Club throws candy to people crowding the curbs of Main Street Ames on Wednesday, July 4, for the Independence Day parade. In addition to the traditional handing out of candy, spectators at the parade picked up yard sticks, rain water gauges and bottles of water.
