Marc Harding, current director of admissions at Iowa State, will be leaving Iowa State in mid-July to take a position at the University of Pittsburgh.

Phil Caffrey, currently the associate director of admissions, will serve as interim director of admissions, effective July 16.

According to the ISU news service: “Caffrey recently completed his 30th year in Iowa State’s admissions office, where he began as an admissions counselor in June 1982.” After serving for several years as a recruiter, Caffrey moved into a position where he oversaw Iowa State’s freshman recruitment effort. Tom Hill, vice president of Student Affairs, appointed Caffrey to the position.

Caffrey received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology as well as a master’s degree in counselor education, both from Iowa State. According to the news service, Caffrey “has served as co-chairman of the university’s Open Option Task Force and member of ISU’s Athletics Compliance Committee and has received the Regents Award for Staff Excellence and P&S Council’s CYtation Award.”

At the University of Pittsburgh, Harding will act as chief enrollment officer, leading the university’s office of admissions and financial aid.
