For the third consecutive year, the ISU women’s golf team has advanced to postseason play.

After finishing 10th in both 2010 and 2011 at the NCAA West Regional — both times missing the cut by five shots — the No. 37 Cyclones will give it another shot when they hit the course in Erie, Colo., Thursday.

The NCAA Regional competition will be the seventh in school history for the Cyclones, who will be one of 24 teams taking part. The top eight teams will advance to the NCAA Championships on May 22-25.

Iowa State tied for fourth in its most recent competition at the Big 12 Championships, with junior Punpaka Phuntumabamrung finishing tied for eighth individually.

The regional competition will run through Saturday.
