No. 2 Oklahoma proved itself on Saturday in a statement win against No. 19 Missouri and No. 25 Iowa State at the Big 12 Championships.

Iowa State and Missouri tied for second place with a score of 196.025. This is the Cyclones’ first time all season scoring at least 196, but it wasn’t enough to combat Oklahoma’s 197.475.

The Sooners dominated the meet from start to finish. The only question remaining was who would take home silver.

The ISU gymnastics team had its strongest performance all year, although it struggled starting off in its best event, floor, with the lowest scored event for the Cyclones.

Leading Missouri heading into the final rotation by a slim .150 margin, Iowa State needed a strong performance to secure second place.

After Missouri vaulted, Iowa State performed its beam routines. Missouri scored a 49.000 on vault while Iowa State finished beam with a score of 48.850.

Oklahoma, at home, finished in first while Iowa State could not hold onto second place.

The Cyclones await their regional placement, which will be announced Monday and they will surely see a boost from their performance at the Big 12 Championships.
