It doesn’t matter which way you refer to them. Odd Future, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All or OFWGKTA are the most talked about talent in hip-hop right now. So if you don’t know who they are, you better wise up or else the cool kids at school won’t be friends with you anymore. Just don’t compare them to the Wu-Tang Clang, or you run the risk of them tweeting about how stupid you are.

Now let me break it down for you. The Odd Future phenomenon started back in February 2011 with an unlikely performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. After the group absolutely killed it everything snowballed from there. Frank Ocean was featured on not one, but two tracks from the Jay-Z/Kanye super collaboration “Watch the Throne.” Tyler, the Creator (what a wonderfully cocky name) gained a considerable amount of attention for the video “Yonkers” and went on to snag a VMA for Best New Artist that year. Tyler, the Creator is in fact the leader of the group whose deep, gravelly voice demands attention.

The group’s newest release is all over the place, but in a good way. With 18 tracks, you’re bound to find a song you like or a certain group member’s style that you gravitate towards. I personally love “Analog 2” and the Lil Wayne vibe on “Bitches.” However the vocals on “Ya Know” make it my favorite. At this point I feel obligated to inform you that this album, or anything Odd Future does, is not meant for those who are easily offended. If that’s you, you’re missing out, if not — just sit back and enjoy the album in all of it’s alternative hip-hop splendor.
