ISU tennis team drops seventh straight

Despite winning the doubles point for the first time all season, the ISU tennis team dropped a 4-3 match against Charleston Southern on Saturday afternoon.

In the No. 1 singles, ISU senior Maria Fernanda Macedo lost 6-2, 6-2 to remain winless on the season.

Freshman Ksenia Pronina continued her hot start for the Cyclones, winning 7-5, 7-6 (5) against Angelica Sidorenko to capture her fifth win of the season.

In the No. 3 singles spot, ISU junior Simona Cacciuttolo also won her second match of the weekend, defeating Yvonne Hubler 6-4, 6-3.

The Cyclones dropped matches in the No. 4, 5 and 6 singles spots with close losses by Meghan Cassens, Jenna Langhorst and Marie-Christine Chartier.

In doubles play, the ISU team of Macedo and Langhorst posted its first doubles win of the season by a score of 8-2. The pair of senior Tessa Lang and Chartier claimed an 8-5 victory for the Cyclones to give them a team-high three wins on the season.

The Cyclones will take on Northern Iowa next weekend in Waterloo.
