City of Ames to activate snow ordinance at 10 p.m. Thursday

In anticipation of this evening’s snowfall, the city of Ames announced it will activate its snow ordinance at 10 p.m.

The ordinance goes into effect process two inches falls on main streets in Ames. While the ordinance is in effect vehicles are prohibited from parking on snow routes, which are marked by red and white signs.

Any vehicles left on snow routes after the ordinance takes effect will be ticketed and towed. Streets must be completely cleared and snow has stopped falling.

The city also asks that residents remove vehicles from all streets to assist in plowing efforts, but only vehicles on snow routes will be ticketed and towed.
