ISU defensive back Durrell Givens was arrested early Saturday morning for possession of a controlled substance.

Givens has been suspended indefinitely from the team, according to an email from Tom Kroeschell, associate athletic director for ISU athletic communications.

According to police records, Givens, who will be a redshirt senior in 2012, was arrested at 12:21 a.m. and was transferred to the Story County jail at 2:56 a.m. The records also showed that the substance Givens was arrested for was marijuana.

Givens appeared in 11 games last season for the Cyclones and started in three. The Long Beach, Calif., native finished the season with 31 tackles — 12th most on the team — along with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and two pass breakups.
