Cyclones fall short against Western Michigan

The ISU tennis team lost to Western Michigan 4-3 Friday night after its comeback attempt was ended.

The Cyclones had it all tied up at 3-3 but Western Michigan’s Jill Pastunink defeated Simona Cacciuttolo 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 to win the final point.

In doubles action, Iowa State got a win from the team of Tessa Lang and Marie-Christine Chartier but lost the other two matches.

In singles play the Cyclones were led by wins from Ksenia Pronina, Meghan Cassens and Chartier.

Iowa State came close to victory and will try to get into the win column on Saturday against Marquette at noon.
