The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a freeze warning for 1-9 a.m. Friday.

High pressure is expected to build into the area and bring clear skies and light winds overnight, according to the warning. These conditions will lead to a hard freeze over central and eastern Iowa.

Overnight lows in Ames are expected to dip into the upper 20s. The sub-freezing temperatures will damage or kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
