Finals week may be the most stressful time of the semester for students, but that’s all the more reason to give yourself a break with these Netflix shows.

If you want a serious and gripping show:

Danny Brocklehurst’s “Safe” is the pick for you.

“Safe” centers around Tom Delany, portrayed by “Dexter’s” Michael C. Hall, as he frantically searches for his missing daughter Jenny after she goes missing from a house party.

“Safe” is a good show to watch if you’re a fan of “Big Little Lies.” The constant build up of tension will have you watching all eight episodes of the series in one sitting as you won’t want to look away.

If you want a good mixture of seriousness and humor:

Natasha Lyonne’s “Russian Doll” will be your show.

“Russian Doll” follows Nadia, played by Natasha Lyonne, director of the show as well as star of “Orange is the New Black,” after she finds that her life resets back to the same scene at her birthday party every time she dies.

This show is a prime example of a dark comedy as the premise is all about death and how to avoid it, but the comedic talents of Lyonne lifts up the mood dramatically and will make for a good breather during dead week.

If you’re not a fan of anything scary:

The light hearted comedy “The Good Place” is the show for you. Michael Schur’s “The Good Place” follows Eleanor Shellstrop, portrayed by Kristen Bell, after she wakes up in the afterlife and is mistakenly put in “The Good Place.”

This comedy is reminiscent of other light-hearted comedies such as “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Master of None.” There are currently two seasons available on Netflix with the third announced to be “coming soon.”
