In a letter addressed to his fellow Iowa Board of Regents members, President David Miles wrote that he and president pro tem Jack Evans have decided to resign from their positions.

Miles wrote that Governor Terry Branstad called him in May asking him to resign as Board president. Gov. Branstad made the same request to Evans, Miles wrote.

After seeking feedback from their fellow Regents, Miles and Evans have decided to resign from their positions upon the election of their successors.

A telephonic meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. to elect a new president and a new president pro term.

According to a KCCI report, Miles and Evans will both serve the rest of their terms on the board as Regents.
