Tornado watch issued for Tuesday

The National Weather Services in Des Moines has removed Ames and Story County from the tornado watch. The watch continues for some counties in south, central Iowa until 11 p.m.

The National Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has issued a tornado watch for portions of central Iowa, including Story, Boone and Polk counties. The watch remains in effect until 11 p.m.

The hazardous weather outlook for Ames indicates that storms are expected to develop this evening and tonight. These storms are expected to be strong to severe with large hail, damaging winds and locally heavy rains being possible.
