The Ames City Council will be given a staff report on the Rental Housing Code modifications Tuesday night.

The council has been working with the Ames Rental Association and the Property Maintenance Appeals Board to make changes to standards specified in the code. The groups met Oct. 19 to discuss the final topics under debate and reached compromises on all the issues except two.

Ames city staff will present the council with the newly developed alternatives in regards to these topics, which include redefined terms within the code and plumbing issues. The council will vote on the approval of these changes.

Also on the City Council agenda is a proposal for an annexation moratorium agreement between the cities of Ames and Nevada. The agreement addresses an annexation attempt by Nevada on property within the Ames urbanized area and defines the boundaries between the two city limits.
