The ISU men’s basketball team has added another player to its roster for the 2011-2012 season with the transfer of Southern Illinois forward Anthony Booker, the team announced Thursday.

Booker, a 6-foot-8-inch sophomore, averaged 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in his second season.

“Anthony brings immediate size, strength and, most of all, experience to our front line,” ISU coach Fred Hoiberg said. “A year sitting out will really help the overall development of his game and we are looking forward to watching Anthony make an immediate impact the following season.”

Due to NCAA transfer rules, the Florissant, Mo., native will sit out the 2010-2011 season and return in 2011 with two years of eligibility remaining.

Booker’s transfer came as the second big announcement from the program Thursday after the hiring of Bobby Lutz as an assistant coach was announced earlier in the day.
