ISU senior distance runner Lisa Koll has been named the National Female Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Koll, native of Fort Dodge, is a four-time national champion and an 11-time All-American as well as holding the collegiate record in the 10,000-meter run.

Koll’s performance at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships marked just the fourth time a woman had won both the 5,000- and 10,000-meter events in the same Championships.

Andrew Wheating, of Oregon, was named the USTFCCCA Male Athlete of the Year.

Koll is also one of three finalists for the Honda-Broderick Cup, the top honor awarded by the Collegiate Women’s Sports Awards.
