Cyclones face Baylor in Big 12 road test

After playing 12 out of their last 13 games at home, Iowa State will have a road series against the Baylor Bears.

The Cyclones have a record of 24-18 (1-8 Big 12) and are in last place among the seven Big 12 softball teams, and the Bears are 17-24 (2-11 Big 12) and are in sixth place.

Coming into this series, the Cyclones have won six out of their last 10; meanwhile, the Bears have lost eight out of their last 10 games.

Baylor has a record of 40-12 all-time against Iowa State and have won the last 12 matchups in a row.

Coming into this season, the Bears were picked to finish third in the Big 12 and had one first-place vote. The Bears have not had that kind of success this due to the fact that inconsistency and injuries have plagued the team.

Baylor has four players that have started in 40 or more games this season and have had 13 players make five or more starts this season.

Despite its poor record, Baylor does have some solid wins this season including two wins against then top-ten ranked teams: ninth-ranked South Carolina and then-10th ranked Louisiana.

The Bears also have a win over No. 13 Oklahoma State.

In the circle, the Bears have an ERA (earned run average) of 4.29 which is sixth out of seven in the Big 12.

The Bears have struggled offensively as they have a batting average of .253 which ranks last among the Big 12 teams and have scored the least amount of runs.

Junior Goose McGlaun leads the Bears with a batting average with a .363 average which is 12th in the Big 12.

In the field, the Bears have a fielding percentage of .957 which is last in the Big 12.

The series will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a game at 6:30 p.m. Friday and concluded with a noon game Saturday.
