SOCCER: Cyclones end road trip with another scoreless effort

The Cyclones’ long road trip came to an end this weekend in Boulder, Col., and what a rocky road it was.

The Buffaloes sent Iowa State home with a 1-0 loss, bringing the its record to 1-3-2 on the six-game road trip. The Cyclones are now on a four-game scoreless streak.

Colorado’s Kelly Menachof put the only goal of the game past senior goalkeeper Ann Gleason in the fourth minute of the game and the Cyclones were never able to equalize on any of their eight shots. Only one of the eight shots, by Amanda Mayberry, was on goal.

The Buffaloes enjoyed a 17-8 shots advantage, putting six of them on target. Menachof put three of her four shots on goal.

The Buffaloes start conference play 2-0, as they also knocked off Oklahoma State, while Iowa State starts out conference play 0-2.

The Cyclones are now 4-3-4 in the season.
