Police looking for armed robbery suspect

The Ames Police Department is looking for a suspect in an armed robbery Monday morning at EZ Money Check Cashing, 222 Lincoln Way, according to a press release.

Ames Police responded at 8:20 a.m. Monday to the business. An employee told police that the suspect forced him inside and demanded the employee give him money, according to the press release.

“The suspect is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 5 feet 6 inches, with a medium build. He was wearing a dark colored sweatshirt with an attached hood, a dark colored baseball cap, light colored pants and dark colored shoes,” Cmdr. Mike Brennan wrote in the press release. “The suspect was also wearing a black backpack.”
