Mexico programs canceled for summer

Two summer programs in Mexico have been canceled in response to the Centers for Disease Control travel warning to avoid nonessential travel to Mexico, according to e-mail sent by the Study Abroad Center Tuesday. The center cancelled all of its summer 2009 study abroad programs in Mexico and said the status of fall programs “is pending until further notice.” The two programs are the Cuernavaca and Monterrey Tec program. In addition, the e-mail said the center will work to find other program options for students effected.

“No cancellation fees will be assessed for summer Study Abroad Center programs in Mexico,” the e-mail said.

In addition, the e-mail said most major airlines have agreed to waive ticket change fees for passengers cancelling trips to Mexico. Questions about the cancelation can be directed to the Study Abroad Center at (515) 294-6792.
