Fashion Show guest designer Vans to speak about brand

Vans is the Guest Company Designer for this year’s Fashion Show, and as a part of Fashion Week celebrations, the members of the Vans team will be speaking about their brand’s mission.

Their lecture titled “Vans: Empowering Youth Culture” will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union.

“Members of their team will speak about the company’s culture, history, and the success of the iconic California brand,” according to the Lectures Program website. “They will discuss how the company structure and business strategies have evolved to maintain its ‘Off the Wall’ mission.”

The company creates a variety of footwear, accessories and clothing that are based around being active. 

“Presenters include company recruiter Katie Essex; apparel merchandiser Lynda Castillo; apparel designer James McCahon, and footwear designers Jerod Harmon and Derek Huenecke, who are both graduates of Iowa State’s industrial design program,” according to the Lectures Program website.

The Fashion Show 2019 will be at 7 p.m. Saturday in Stephens Auditorium Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or at the Stephens Auditorium Ticket Office. 

“Vans: Empowering Youth Culture” is cosponsored by the College of Design, Industrial Design, The Fashion Show and the Committee on Lectures, which is funded by Student Government.
