WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT: Injured Ezell doesn’t play in first half against Texas

OKLAHOMA CITY – Iowa State women’s sharpshooter Heather Ezell did not start in tonight’s quarterfinal, and didn’t see the court in the first half against sixth-seeded Texas due to an injury sustained to her shooting hand in practice earlier this week.

She went through pregame drills just rebounding and had tape on her shooting hand. She was, however, passing the ball. She is currently dressed and sitting next to coach Bill Fennelly on the bench and might play, but didn’t in the first half.

The senior from Springfield, Mo., tested the strength of her hand prior to the game, but she could be held out of the game as a precaution to ensure her health for the NCAA Tournament next week.

Check back for updates as the game progresses.

Ezell is second in Iowa State history for three-pointers made in a career (277), and stands just 10 treys away from tying for the number one spot. The No. 18 and third-seeded Cyclones will tip off against Texas at 7:30 pm this evening at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
