The Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans completed a trade on Friday sending Iowa State alum Sage Rosenfels to the Vikings. Minnesota gave up a fourth-round draft pick for him and then agreed on a two-year, $9 million extension.

Rosenfels is expected to compete for the Vikings starting job with incumbent Tarvaris Jackson. Rosenfels went 2-3 in five starts with Houston last season while backing up Matt Schaub.

The Maquketa, Iowa native started for the Cyclones from 1999-2000 and in his senior season he led the Cyclones to their first ever bowl win with a 37-29 win over Pittsburgh in the Insight.com Bowl.
