ISU Police announced today that certified campus police officers have been carrying firearms since Monday.

Cmdr. Gene Deisinger said that since members of the police force were already certified, they had already met national accreditation standards so everyone was already “up to speed.”

Deisinger said the only big change was that the department had to modify its policy to reflect the changes in the board’s decision, from only carrying firearms with permission to carrying firearms full-time.
