Get the biggest bang for your book

James Pusey

It’s that bittersweet time of year – time to wave an eager goodbye to those over-priced textbooks by selling them back to providers for a fraction of the price you paid.

Fortunately, you don’t have to face this frustration alone. FYI did some research on ways that you can get rid of those textbooks and minimize your losses.

Take note, the prices listed below are as of April 23 and are subject to minor change.

University Book Store

Located in the Memorial Union, UBS is a short walk from anywhere on campus, and from May 1 through May 3 they will be hosting buyback stations in Maple-Willow-Larch, the Union Drive Community Center, Buchanan Hall and Frederiksen Court from 12 to 7 p.m.

Bio 211 – Biology (7th Edition) by Neil A. Campbell – $76.50

Math 165 – Calculus (9th Edition) by Dale Varberg – $63.25

Hist 201 – The Making Of the West by Lynn Hunt – $36.00

Campus Book Store

On the south side of Lincoln Way, across from Lake LaVerne, CBS is also buying back textbooks, though they won’t be setting up buyback stations in the dorms.

Bio 211 – Biology (7th Edition) by Neil A. Campbell – $77.00

Math 165 – Calculus (9th Edition) by Dale Varberg – $60.00

Hist 201 – The Making Of the West by Lynn Hunt – $36.00

Sell Online

There are almost endless options for selling textbooks online. There are several sites that specialize in buying/selling textbooks, including www.textbooksrus.com, which had the best buyback prices out of the Web sites that were searched.

The book store’s are a better option, but they only buy textbooks until their quota for a certain book is reached. After that, this Web site might be your best shot.
